I am totally delighted with this ornamental grass; Miscanthus sinensis ‘Kleine Fontaine’

I bought it in August at a Plant Hunters Fair

And despite the torrential rain and high winds that we have experienced over the past few weeks

Today, when the rain stopped it looked just fine!

(Unlike the rest of the garden)

One of the benefits of all the wet weather

Is that the Goldfinches visit the garden to feed as the fields are too soggy.

For the last few days this pair have been regularly eating the Niger Seed

I hope they stay around when the rain stops.

We have had a week of high winds and heavy rain.

While we have not been affected as much as other parts of the country

The river running through Dolgellau flooded

And my garden is a quagmire.

More rain is forecasted.

(And please don’t ask about my roof)

With the wet weather we have been having recently – these flowers, waiting to go onto the compost heap

Have truly reached “the end of the line”

So this is my submission for the Picture This Photo Contest for November over at Gardening Gone Wild.

What did happen to the last couple of months?

I think just being really busy happened to me.

And here we are a week into November.

Hopefully I will be less busy and can get back into posting an image nearly every day again

It wont be long before the Autumn Equinox.

And while we are still enjoying the most lovely Indian Summer

The Year is creeping towards Autumn

And the dew is lying heavy in the mornings.

The insects in the garden were making the most of the warmth.

Every year I consider taking out these pink Japanese anemone

Then, like to-day I notice them back-lit by the late afternoon sun

And I know they will stay another year.

We have had such a poor July and August,

That we have not had three consecutive dry days

Which made to-day even more special

As it was warm and sunny

And the garden was full of bees and butterflies.
