Snake’s Head Fritillary

The Garden I was in to-day has a beautiful patch of Snake’s head fritillary.

So I am suffering from serious “Snakes’ head fritillary envy”

They are quite beautiful.

I have always admired them, but never had a suitable place for them. Then last year I found some bulbs going cheap at Wilkinsons, so got them and put them in a tub as I had nowhere else to put them at the time. When I went up the garden tonight, I found that some have flowered. Don’t look very healthy, so will have to move them into the actual garden. Let’s hope they recover.

  2. Wow. I’ve never seen a bloom quite like that. Really stunning.

  3. I love them and bought more at the end of last year. They can be a bit tricky to establish but I go for the scatter clumps here and there approach – so some are bound to take.
