A visual journal



Gunnera manicata is one of my least favorite plants … I think.

I did grow it in one of my gardens, way back when.

I would not grow it in this garden – too prickly

Not to mention too big.

But I can admire it (kind of) in my friends gardens.

    I remember that there was a huge one in one of the properties you were interested in when moving back to Wales. Is that why you didn’t buy it!?

    Bside our pond there are six infant gunnera, no doubt waiting until our backs are turned, when they will leap up and overwhelm us in their prickly embrace. At the moment they are eyeing a young aspen tree, which is shaking nervously!

  3. I like the flowers – slightly alien. Occasionally I see oddly shaped flowers and wonder why they have evolved like they have!
