One of the delights of working in the garden at this time of year is the young birds
Who sometimes look as if they have still to grow into their “grown-up feathers”
Or, as in this case, having a really “bad hair day”!

Did he actually fly from the nest? Hard to believe with those feathers. He looks like the cat nearly got him. Still, he will be smart before you know it and raising a family of his own.

I would imagine this is an adult Robin, they often look rather messed up like this after a brood.
The juveniles are brown like a Wren and it’ll be some time yet until they get their red feathers.

Hi Dobby, Hi Liz.
Liz, thanks for your input – I knew he was not a youngster, but I thought perhaps he might of been a “teenager”!
Phew – who would be a robin parent if you looked like this after raising a family.
Hang on …. (rushes off to the mirror….)
